Voki
I think Voki is a great way to begin a lesson. It will grab the students' attention when the important key points are introduced at the beginning of the lesson. Voki intrigues students with the unique looking avatar and the funny voices that are available. I also think students could create their own Voki when teaching the class about a topic. I have split the class into groups to jigsaw information and teach it to the rest of the class. I think this would be a great way for students to deliver their information. They would have the opportunity to personalize their Voki.
We do a very large study on understanding character's traits and feelings in fourth grade. I would love to have my students create a Wordle about the main character in one of their self selected reading materials. They would create a list of traits and feelings that described the character based on events that were experienced in the story. Last year I had my students create their mothers a Wordle for Mother's Day. I thought it was a great opportunity for them to reflect on what makes their mom so special.
