I’ve been reading my friends’ blogs for a couple years now. The friends who have them have either lived overseas and used blogging as a way to keep friends and family updated, or they have kids and want to keep a journal about their child that they can eventually make into a book. I enjoy bouncing from blog to blog through their bookmarked blogs along the side of the page. I have found some really interesting blogs that are extremely helpful. The most recent one I found shows furniture from popular stores and where you can buy almost the exact same piece for less. I also enjoy looking at blogs for party and event planning ideas, and for great recipe ideas.
I’ve wanted to start a blog, I just wasn’t sure what all I would write about. Hopefully this will give me an opportunity to become familiar with how blogger works and help me to finally sit down and create my own personal blog.
Blogs are a great place to store ideas, and to practice writing. When I try to write in a journal with paper, I’m too nervous to write exactly what I want to say because I don’t want to have to scratch out what I wrote because I spelled a word wrong or I want to change the way I stated it. When I’m typing, it all comes out so quickly because there’s no concern about messing up. As a writing teacher, I wish my students could have their own blogs to encourage them to write each day.
This assignment has given me a greater appreciation for blogs. I can see how blogging can enable writing development and encourage reading and discussion. I hope you can integrate blogging into your classroom!!
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you already read blogs. I'm sure that that will really help you as you make your own.
